Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 24, 2026 • Effective Immediately

Your privacy is fundamental to our mission at Freed ("we", "our", or "us"). We believe that your health journey, smoking habits, and reflections are deeply personal. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with the Freed mobile application and website.

1. On-Device Storage First

Unlike many other tracking apps, Freed is built on a local-first architecture. Your puff logs, daily limits, reduction schedules, mood check-ins, journal reflections, and personal goals are stored locally on your device using encrypted sandbox storage. We do not maintain user accounts on our servers, and we do not store your personal tracking data in cloud databases.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Information you provide directly: When configuring your quit plan during onboarding, you enter information such as your puff count, vape device type, weekly spend, and motivation goals. This data remains on your device.

B. In-App Purchases: We use RevenueCat and the official Apple App Store / Google Play billing systems to process subscriptions. We never see or store your credit card or financial information. RevenueCat processes anonymous transaction receipts to verify subscription entitlements.

C. Optional AI Assistance: If you use the "Ask Freed" AI companion with an active subscription, only the minimal context of your message and anonymized stats are processed securely to generate an answer. These messages are not sold or used to train third-party public AI models.

D. Biometric Authentication: If you enable Face ID or Touch ID privacy lock, biometric processing is performed entirely by Apple iOS / Android LocalAuthentication APIs on your hardware secure enclave. Freed never has access to your biometric data.

3. Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party providers strictly to facilitate app operation:

  • Apple App Store & Google Play: Process application downloads and in-app purchases.
  • RevenueCat: In-app purchase verification and entitlement management.
  • Expo / EAS: Application deployment and crash monitoring framework.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete and permanent control over it at all times. You can:

  • Reset Everything: In the app's Settings screen under "Your data", tap "Reset everything" to permanently erase all local logs, plans, and history.
  • Export Data: Export a full JSON backup of your records at any time.
  • Delete App: Deleting the Freed app from your phone instantly removes all locally cached data.

5. Children's Privacy

Freed is intended strictly for individuals aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor is using the app, please contact us immediately.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

7. Contact Us
